My top 3 feels for staying fit & healthy – without a gym.

With the gyms closed (cry-face) & the snack draws now permanently open – we’ll soon forget the word burpee ever existed and all live happily ever after..
😉
But how are you achieving optimum health & maintaining those gorgeous gains without visiting the sweat box?

who cares (eye-roll)
Or…. EASY?!

Okayyy, easy for some, but with a sprinkle of mindfulness & dash of Marie Kwondo, we’ve all got this in the bag. Let’s tidy it up.

1- NUTRITION – stop eating your feelings, yes you. Be it through boredom, sadness, excitement or fear, the body still doesn’t appreciate a truck load of junk in its trunk. Be kind.

A little bit of the ‘good stuff’ is okay when we’re active, but the bittersweet truth is that overeating anything, can be problematic. What we choose to put IN is quite literally the fuel in the motor (& the mind).

Feeling sluggish? check your diet. Feeling sad? check your diet. Lacking in motivation? Check your diet. No its not the answer to all problems, but out of all the variables we have control over, it certainly plays the biggest role in our well-being.

When life gets tough, comfort eating can creep in*, and that’s okay (or not*) but if you’re serious (and ready) to put your self care up front – nourishing nutrition has to take that priority seat. PSSSST stay hydrated too!!

2- MOVEMENT – Every single day. Do something to move, to flow, to play, to feel your body sweat a little, your heart rate rise a few bpm, or your lungs fill with fresh forest air. Switching from a gym routine to movement at home or outdoors is actually a BLESSING.

Yep, i said it. Taking away that playground has encouraged us all to look around our own turf a little closer. What space is actually suitable at home, in the garden, local park, beach or playground!?

Fitness & health (when you’re not a legit PRO ATHLETE),

is simples, and we could all use that reminder

just.....move.....everyday 🙂

(in a way that supports your body!)

Say what?

Its easy peasy lemon squeezey…just cover these bases y’all!

(psst If you have any medical conditions then consult with a professional before embarking on a fitness flurry).

Cardio – something to make your heart rate rise a little or alot – uhh huh, that counts too 😉 But seriously, anything to get your skin a little sweaty, your lungs pumping and body moving, is cardio.

Flexibility & mobility – something to stretch you out and free up those joints after too much sitting, sleeping or working.

A little online yoga, a simple stretch on the floor, a session on the foam roller (ewwww i know i know, sigh ).

A quick but regular stretch and mobility routine can be a game changer for physical health & well-being, taking a moment to slow down and breathe deep into those muscles, bliss.

Strength – something to make your muscles work, especially your posterior chain (back, glutes, hamstrings & core), this could be resistance training with body weight, bands or kit, anything goes.

A consistent and balanced strength training program can be performed in or out a gym, its simply a case of how much you want it, then getting in the know.

People of all ages and abilities who regularly participate in resistance exercise reduce risk of numerous diseases, improve quality of life and reduce mortality

3- MINDFULNESS – In the words of Jay Shetty ‘think like a monk’.

Observe all the thoughts, feel all the feelings, and stay calm throughout. The ultimate goal right?!

Mindfulness is a lifestyle, a choice, a dedicated practice, but it can be applied to anything, anytime, at any degree. You don’t need a PHD in it. You can quite literally….enroll…anytime. No pre-requisites, no interview process. Just join the club.

Being mindful simply means to approach things from a place of calm and love, rather than chaos and fear.

How can you apply more calm and love into your daily routines, interactions, self talk, communication, choices and responses?

If this is new, start simple, perhaps just notice your language, the internal dialog as well as your speech, how do you talk to yourself and others, what do you talk about?! Are you focused and fed on love or fear?

If this is old news to you, acknowledge your mindfulness, give yourself a pat on the back, bravooooo, and have a little personal review. What areas of your life can still use a more mindful approach? More LOVE. More high flying vibrations. Keep spreading them. Keep feeling and feeding that love. You know.

Living more mindfully helps us in all areas of our life, from physical health, to mental health, to relationships, business and….you get the drift, just all of it.

Somewhere along the line we forgot what we came here for, and got all serious, all complicated. Play, be kind, and keep it simple.

That’s it. My top 3 feels for fitness and health – without the gym.
